What is the Holding Steady Group?

Holding Steady is a virtual skills and support group for parents who want practical tools, honest conversation, and a space where they don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Parenting can bring a lot of emotions, uncertainty, and moments where you’re not quite sure what the “right” response is. In this group, we talk about those real situations and learn skills that help you stay grounded when things feel overwhelming.

Each week we explore topics like emotional regulation, setting boundaries, navigating conflict, and supporting your child through big emotions. The goal isn’t to be a “perfect parent.” The goal is to help you feel more steady, confident, and supported in the middle of real life parenting.

The group meets virtually at 7pm on Thursdays, making it easy to join from home once the day settles down.

Who Is This Group For?

This group is open to all parents.

Whether you’re raising a newborn, a teenager, or even navigating a relationship with your 40-year-old child, the reality is that parenting never truly stops. The challenges simply change as our children grow.

Many of the skills we talk about in this group — things like staying calm during conflict, holding boundaries with love, managing your own emotional responses, and communicating more clearly — are helpful at every stage of parenting.

If you’re looking for practical tools, supportive conversation, and a place where you can learn alongside other parents who get it, this group is for you.

Meet the Facilitator

Jillian Lorek, LCMHCA
Jillian Lorek is the founder of Hope Crest Counseling and the facilitator of the Holding Steady parent group. She’s also a mom who truly understands the realities of parenting — the messy, exhausting, beautiful parts that don’t always make it into parenting books.

With over 20 years of experience working with children, parents, and families, Jillian brings both professional expertise and real-life understanding into the group. She creates a space where parents can talk honestly, learn practical skills, and feel supported without the pressure to be perfect.

Jillian believes parenting is hard work, and no one should have to navigate it alone.
